One Tough Cookie
We went to the park again last night. It was a rough night for David. He got launched off the end of the slide twice and on the way back to the car he was running downhill and tripped at least 3 times hitting his face on the asphalt every time. Amazingly enough, he only cried once. He's one tough cookie.

Date night wrap up
Our friends Jeremy and Heather watched the boys for us last night so we could go out. Needless to say, they are our best friends today. :) We really needed the getaway. We didn't do anything too fancy...just some dinner at Applebee's. Yummo! I really don't get out much anymore so this was quite the treat.
I was super excited. This was our first date since Max was born. Wow, was I looking forward to it! :) I got the boys ready to leave then left them with David so I could get ready. Much like David and my's first date ever together, I went through about 30 outfits trying to find just the right one. However, this time it had a lot more to do with my post-2-babies body not fitting into anything and a lot less to do with trying to impress the socks off of him. When I finally found something I could be comfortable in, it was on to the bathroom to do my hair. This proved to be a struggle as well. Yesterday morning when I took a shower I didn't have much time to blow dry or style my hair before it air dried so it got pulled up into a ponytail instead. It was still slightly damp so when I took it down I had a lovely little bump from where the ponytail holder was. You know what I'm talking about ladies...that little kink in your hair that you can't get to lay flat no matter what and makes you so frustrated trying that you give in and succumb to the ponytail once again. Yep, that's where I was at. Yuck.
After 10 minutes, David decided that my "I'll be right out" was taking longer than it should and came to find me. I took one final look in the mirror and decided it wasn't going to get any better and off we went. We dropped the kids off and scooted out the door before the crying got too bad. Finally, we were free!! Once at the restaurant, our excitement died a bit when we realized WE HAD NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT!! We ordered, got our drinks and ate our appetizer in near silence before I finally spoke up and said "Let's give up on trying to not talk about the kids". :) Conversation got lively from there. We spent an hour and a half eating and chatting before heading back to get the boys. It was incredible. I was able to eat my meal while it was still warm, I left my glass at the edge of the table and didn't worry about little hands finding it and I got dessert without having to share. Delightful. Of course when I tried to find my ID to purchase alcohol, I had to first take 2 diapers, a pacifier and a burb cloth out of my purse to find my wallet...and even then it was full of diaper coupons and old Babies R Us receipts. You really can't shut off your 'mom-ness'. It stays with you no matter what. :)
All in all it was a fabulous evening and we were very apprecitative of the time away. We should try not to let 3 months pass by before we do it again...
P.S. Applebee's Mud Slides are suuuper tasty. ;)

An afternoon adventure
After lunch today, Taylor and David were really loud and rambunctious. I knew they had way more energy than they could burn before nap time so I pulled out the double stroller and took them for a spin around the neighborhood. About 3 minutes into our walk I realized we had already lost one of Taylor's socks. Not a great way to start. I looked around us, but it was no where to be seen. Oh well.
Along the way, David and I pointed out the usual outdoorsy type stuff. We found a rock, a stick, a leaf, 3 yellow "flowers" (dandelions) and a bug. We also saw 3 birds picking at the ground and 2 chipmunks that were chasing each other through the grass. David loved it. On the not-so-naturey side of things we also found a roll of electrical tape, Taylor's lost sock, a leather glove, a broken snow brush, a towel and a chunk of some girl's hair weave. Although they were interesting in their own right and sparked good conversation, I could have done without those things. :)
It's now nap time and I have a blissfully calm and peaceful house. I've got my feet up and a plate of Mom's blueberry crisp in my hand. I'm a lucky girl. :)

Warning: Dangerous levels of cuteness ahead.
AHHHHH! I CAN'T STAND HOW CUTE THIS IS!! You can't say you weren't warned. I wouldn't blame you if you stared though.
My precious lil babe is going on 11 weeks old. He's quite a chunker. He's grown into size 2 disposable diapers and just this week I added 6-9 month clothing to his dresser. Wow. That's all I have to say about that. He smiles non-stop and he's laughing now too! It's pretty cute. Last week I had him on my lap and I tickled his collarbone. He let out the most adorable giggle I've ever heard in my life. I'm pretty sure it doesn't get any better than this. :)

Date night!!!
Whoo Hooooo! Mommy and Daddy are getting a break tonight! We've got breastmilk pumped, packed and frozen for Max, a bag full of "new" toys for David and a babysitter ready and waiting. We are going out!!!
In the 10 weeks since Max was born, David and I have gotten less than an hour and a half together, alone and baby free. We love our kiddos dearly, but we aren't superheroes. We're merely parents. We are desperately needing some off-duty time. It may only be dinner, but I'm stoked! I really can't wait!

Family time
We are headed to the zoo tomorrow!!! Yay! This will be our first big fun outing as a family of four. We've done shopping trips and doctor's visits, but those are boring, everyday, have to do it kind of things. The zoo is just because we want to. :)
Two days ago, we went to lunch with the boys for the first time. It was a spur of the moment decision. With kids, those can lead to really great times or really disasterous ones. This one turned out well. The service was good, David ate the food instead of playing with it and Max slept through most of the meal. That's a success in my book. And call me a cheeseball, but I also found it super fun to say "a table for four please" for the first time. *sigh* I love those boys so much.
I'll post a zoo report and pics later when we get home. I'm sure there will be good stories to tell!

2 months old?! Already?
Max had a 2 month check up and vaccinations on Monday. The doctor said he looks great. He's still at the top of the charts for his weight and height. He's coming in at 24" now (which is bigger than 75% of kids his age) and 13lbs 6oz (which is bigger than 90% of kids his age). He got 6 vaccines altogether - it was a total of 3 pokes and 1 oral immunization. He wasn't a fan of those so much. He screamed bloody murder. We're talking red in the face, crocodile tears, couldn't breathe kind of stuff - and that was just the oral vaccine! It got worse when they got to the pokes. And just think...we have to go back in 2 short months for another round...
In other news, he's outgrowing size 1 diapers now. We'll be moving up to size 2's on our next trip to the store. He's also sleeping as much as 8 hours at night before waking up to nurse. I'm getting up once or twice instead of 3 times a night now.

new purse!
I got a new purse last night. It's big. It's brown. It's leathery. David hates it.
That's the end of my story.
That's the end of my story.

Buddies
Every one needs a best buddy in life. David has Dog and now Max has Monkey. We bought him yesterday and introduced them to each other today. It took about 5 minutes before Max fell asleep in his bouncy seat...FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF!!!! I like Monkey.

Feelin' buggy
David and I had a morning all to ourselves late last week. It was such a sweet time. Ordinarily, Taylor would come first thing in the morning and Max would wake up early too, but on this particular morning Tay wasn't coming and Max decided to sleep late. I really enjoyed having my boy all to myself. It's been quite a while since that has happened. David was loving the time with me too. I have not seen him so well behaved in a long time and he was just so laid back. I just love him. :)
I made a special breakfast for us while he pretended to "cook" on the floor with some old pots and pans. I used up the last of the eggs on breakfast and emptied the carton. He had to have it, of course, to pretend to make eggs for himself and Dog. He was really cute about it. He sat down, held Dog in his lap and made him take bites of pretend eggs then he washed Dog's hands and wiped his mouth. *deep sigh* He makes me smile.
Before I threw out the egg carton for good, we had a little fun with it. I made bugs out of the bottom half and David made a bed for the bugs out of the top half. He tipped all the finished bugs on their sides, laid then in the lid and said they were night-night. "Shh! Sleeping" he said. Ok, buddy, I'll try not to disturb your egg carton bugs. I know exhausting it must be to be a styrofoam caterpillar. :)

New book title?
You know the kids book series with "If you give a mouse a cookie..." and "If you give a moose a muffin..."? I have a new title for their next book - "If you give a two year old a sticker...(he will rip it up and stick the tiny little bits all over his Tonka truck)".
Yep. True story.
