Max: "When I grow up I don't want to be a police officer."
Me: "Why not?"
Max: "They can't swim and if I have to get away from bad guys I might have to swim."
Me: "Police officers can swim, Buddy. Why did you think they can't?"
Max: "I never saw them swim before so I know they can't. If I saw them with my little eyes and they swimmed then I would be a police officer because that would be fun. I like catching bad guys."

This week in Kindergarten

They focused on fire safety and pets this week. They've also started labeling their work {like putting "Pet" on the pictures they drew of the classroom pet shark} and have increased efforts on correctly writing their names. They have their assigned reading teachers now. A group of 10 special reading teachers come into the classroom in the morning for their reading lessons. Each teacher takes a small group of children and works with them at their level to increase their letter recognition, letter sounds, sight words and sounding out words. 

Tuesday was gym class day which is always a big stinkin' deal. This week they learned a new version of tag {freeze tag} and did that the whole class time. David said it was the best day ever. Nicholas had his Mama pick him up from school instead of riding the bus as usual. David wondered all evening why this was. He intends on asking him tomorrow. 

Wednesday was a huge deal for lots of reasons. #1: Nicholas wasn't at school. Being a car rider yesterday then not showing up today. Shady stuff, I tell ya. #2: It was firefighter day. The local fire department showed up with a truck and spent time in each classroom talking about fire safety. One of the fire fighters dressed up in full firefighter garb in front of the kids, put on his mask and spoke to them in his "funny voice" to show them that the fire fighters may look different, but they aren't scary if they have to come to their house to help them during a fire. It had a huge impact on my little buddy. Today was also the first day that they got to check out a book from the school library and bring it home. Super exciting and made David feel very trusted and grown up. 

He ended the week with art class on Friday...

David: "I made a person with markers today at art class. Then I cut off it's head. Making people is hard." 

Max: "It's not a person if it's head is gone. Then it's just a socked-up chicken beefy crabster."

*awkward silence from everyone*

David: "No. It think it's just a headless person." 

Still pregnant....

I'm pregnant....still. 

I think I might be the first documented case of a woman being pregnant forever. We're definitely starting to think she's never coming out of there. I've been reminded this week that girls are never ready on time. And how true that is! She may not have to primp with her hair or find just the right shoe to match her outfit, but what would it say for the female reputation to show up and make your grand debut when everyone was expecting it? 

My prenatal appt last Friday was encouraging. My doctor seemed to strongly believe we'd be meeting our sweet little darling before her due date (the 11th). She has 3 days. {I hope you're listening, Kira. THREE DAYS!}. I've been showing lots of signs of labor for nearly 2 weeks now. Any day now we're expecting that will turn into something real. *fingers crossed*

Looking back, I realize I get very belly-ish. No wonder people stare. 

This week in Kindergarten

David's class has 2 snack breaks a day. Each day the friends in his class take turns bringing in {nut-free, healthy snacks} to share with everyone. Wednesday was David's snack day. Nothing else mattered all week. He chose to take string cheese and Nutri-grain bars. He was the first little friend all year to take in nutri-grain bars so that was very exciting. On your snack day, you are responsible for passing out snacks to everyone. You can pick one friend to help you. David debated for a solid week about which friend to help. He thought about asking Sofia because she's fun to play with at recess...but Wyatt sits right next to him at the yellow table so that just makes sense. But Alejandro is his best friend so that would be most fun! Then settled for a while on asking Cloe because no one has asked Cloe to be their helper yet and he didn't want her to feel sad for being left out. So tough. In the end, he picked his first choice, Sofia, and Nicholas because he and Nicholas had played tag the day before at recess and that was really fun. Also, Nicholas and Sofia are married {because they ride the same bus} so it doesn't make sense to just ask one of them.
