Picking up

Ever have one of "those" days? The days where the kids seem happier just dumping the toys on the floor rather than actually playing with them. That was today at our house. Alllll the toys they own ended up on the  floor within an hour or two of them waking up this morning. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't stay on top of it and keep the floor clear.

At one point I asked the boys to help pick up the mega blocks from the kitchen floor. I took a second while they were busy to go to their bedroom and get some actual progress made. I came back to the kitchen expecting to see them at least working on the blocks. Not so. I have to admit I was a little frustrated. All they had to do was pick up the clutter off the floor and fill the tote. It seemed simple enough. I (stupidly) asked Max what he was doing and why he wasn't picking up. He looked me dead in the eye and very proudly said "I did! I pick up me!".

Touché, little man.

A walk in Bronson Park

We finally got to Bronson Park to show the boys all the Christmas lights. So fun! David loved it when we drove through Christmas card lane too.

riding the sheep

I tried getting them to look at me and smile,
but a girl walked by.

See her arm? She had a puppy with her. I gave up trying
to get a smile and went with this shot.

Max loved the freedom he was granted at the
park. That boy loves to wander!

Titus' first trip to see the lights.

snowflake lights!

They found a stump. They had to stand
on the stump.  Then they had to jump
off of the stump. I can't believe I thought
they'd be interested in the lights. :)

David got to open Titus' one and only gift...

...his tiger. :)

Once gifts were open I made pancakes for
breakfast

David thought the snowman shape with candies in it
was silly so he got round ones. It's pretty much the pancake
equivalent to getting coal in your stocking.

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve started off with a bang. David called from work at 7am to say that he had pink eye...again. It was the 5th case our family had seen in 18 days (update: Max got it today making it 5 infected people - 6 total cases - in 20 days). I called our families to break the news and cancel Christmas Day plans. We didn't want to expose anyone's kids without their permission so we thought it best to call ahead. One side of the family played it safe and postponed our get together and one side decided to live on the edge and risk the exposure. We were perfectly fine with both.

The boys played and watched movies during the morning while I went through my very thorough cleaning process and washed all the laundry in site. I'm getting SO sick of doing laundry and disinfecting toys! I will be one happy mama when this ordeal is over. Once David got home from work we ate lunch and tried to get the boys down for a nap. Thankfully, they didn't put of much of a fight. They were so sweet looking I just had to take pictures. Sleeping kids are just the best, right?

When I knew the kiddos were in bed to stay I got busy in the kitchen. This year I wanted to bake our traditional Christmas Eve gingerbread house from scratch. It's so easy to do. I'm glad I went that route.
The boys woke up just as I was sitting down to relax. It seems like they always know just when to wake up.  They must think I hate silence or something.

After dinner we built our gingerbread house then sent David off to work. He changed his schedule up a little so he could be here when the boys woke up on Christmas morning. I got the big boys bathed and in bed shortly after he left then spent some time snuggling with Titus and stuffing presents under the tree. I even got in a candy cane inspired manicure and a cheesy Christmas movie before David got home at midnight. Truly a  fabulous day.

Playtime

It makes my heart so happy to see these boys getting along, playing together and loving on each other. A friend of our gave the boys this farm set a while back. It has John Deere tractors, animals, barns, farmers and fence sections so they can build a mini ranch. David and Max love working together to set up the whole spread. It easily keeps them entertained for an hour.

How cute is it to have all three of my boys playing together??

Titus did as much sleeping as he did playing. :)
