"I'm always here for him...."

Titus was crying yesterday. Max, like Max always does, felt bad and wanted to make him "be happy again" so he did silly stuff, made noises and pretended to trip and fall until Titus was giggling and the tears were gone. I told Max he was a good big brother to care about Titus like that. Very sweetly he replied, "Yep, I am. I'm always here for him. I will stay home with him and be with him and not leave....but not forever! I'm going to school when I'm 5. But I'll teach him to be big before I go so he'll be ok."

1st trip to the dentist

All three boys had their first dental cleaning and check up this week. David needed a dentist to sign off on his school health forms so he had to go in. Max is convinced if David does something then he needs to also so he was scheduled too. Once I had 2 out of 3 going in, it just felt silly not to make an appointment for Titus too so they all ended up with appointments.

. We talked about who the dentist was and what it meant to have your teeth cleaned {with an emphasis on the details of the process, the tools he'd use, what the chair looked like and how long it would take for David and an emphasis on the fun, adventure, we've-never-done-this-before, let's-meet-a-new-friend part of it for Max}. They were very excited to meet this mysterious new dentist guy.

Max was first in the chair. He was nervous and he cried a bit, but he tried to be brave. We saw a pediatric dentist and I'm SO glad we did! They were great about calming fears, talking things through and being super quick. The hygienist even got a tissue and wiped his tears away for him! So sweet. They encouraged the idea of less thumb sucking, but said it's not a huge deal. Other than that, Max got a great report.

David was up next. He was nervous too and needed me close, but he was determined to be a man and not cry. Not a single tear was shed. He opened wide and laid very still while the dentist worked. His report was also very good. No cavities or problems. His 6 year molars are trying to push through and {brace yourself!} he has 2 lower front teeth that are loosening some. The dentist said we'd probably see him lose them both before the end of the year. I almost cried on the spot. My baby can't be that big already! Going to school, losing teeth...when did this happen?!

I knew Titus would be the biggest crier so he went last. He was terrified and was really reluctant to open his mouth for some stranger but the big boys were very encouraging and sweet; With their support he climbed in the chair by himself and laid down for his cleaning. It was not without buckets of tears, but he did it. His teeth are also in good shape. They're not concerned in the least about his thumb sucking and he has no cavities. He lost the "Who has the most teeth?" contest {David and Max, very proudly, tied for first with 20 each}, but he's catching up. His 2 year molars are in the process of cutting through right now.

Everyone got a smiley faced goody bag filled with cartoon covered toothbrushes, floss and berry flavored toothpaste. Nobody bit the dentist or threw a massive tantrum so they got prizes out of the prize box on the way out the door. Overall, great trip, but I'm glad it only comes once every six months. :)

They were awarded for their heroic, man-like bravery at the dentist with a picnic at the park. We packed PB&Js, pretzel twists and juice then picked Daddy up from work. Eating lunch with Daddy is a very special treat. :) When lunch was over, the boys scavenged for sticks, climbed trees and pretended to destroy bad guys. Basic man stuff.

A little friend joined our picnic.
Very exciting to a table full of little boys!

David: "Max, hurry up! There's bad guys coming!"
Max: "Sorry, buddy!"

David: "BOOM! BOOOOM! Die, everybody!!"
Max: "Fire....boom. Fire....boom."

Max: "My gun is too little! It's not working!"
David: "It's ok. I've got it...just one more guy....NAILED IT!"

Zucchini fights

Among things I've actually had to say today:
"Stop sword fighting with my zucchini!"

Sharing

So this morning, David swiped a toy away from Max which caused him to start screaming. Then I hear this from David...

"But, buddy, listen. Mom and Dad are married so they have to share everything. Like Uncle Andy and Aunt Whitney. They can't be selfish either. They really can't. Like ever. But you're my brother and we're not married. So this is my toy now. Go get your own."

Aside from being super rude to his brother, he does have a point....

Caught being good

I love when I catch my boys being good. It's so refreshing to know they can behave themselves even when I'm not looking. :) They are currently in David and Max's bedroom playing together and driving their cars on the windowsill "road". Every now and then I hear a shriek and laughter when two vehicles crash and collide. They are so fun!

Muscles

David: "Let's fight bad guys today, buddy!"
Max: "Ok!"
David: "We need to use our giant strong muscles!"
Max: *flexes muscles*
David: "It's ok. I'll use giant strong muscles. You use what you got."

That time the boys saw the prancing little girl

The boys are fascinated by little girls lately. If it's pink and girly then they're all about it. Izzy is their favorite pirate, Minnie is their favorite mouse and Brittany clearly far outweighs all other singing chipmunks. Clearly. And real life girls? They are mesmerizing.

The boys caught a glimpse of a little girl this morning and froze. All arguments were forgotten. All imaginary bad guys were set free. She was outside on the sidewalk prancing about while her daddy worked on their car. She was doing these hoppity twirl things up and down the sidewalk and singing to herself. It was pretty adorable. But the most adorable part? When that sweet little girl danced her way past our window and saw my boys watching her. She gave a shy little smile and played with the barrette at the end of one of her braids. Max, an excellent little wingman, shouted out the screen "Hi, girl! This is David!" and pointed to his brother.

I melted. This was seriously adorable stuff.

She pranced and danced around for the next 20 minutes until her daddy made her go in. Every now and then she'd nonchalantly glance in the direction of our building - maybe at our open window, maybe not - and smile that shy little girly smile. And the boys? They just did this.....

Goodness, this starts young!

Brotherly Love

I love these pictures. All three of their personalities show through so well!

It's so funny to look back through the photos and see the story tell itself. They started cute and cuddly. Then Max's hug got a bit snug. Then it turned unitentionally vicious. David tried to get in there and be sweet and help Titus out. Max had to have the last word so he jumped in for one more strangling head hug before running off to frolic elsewhere. Titus sat quietly through the whole thing completely unphased by any of it.

Classic, everyday, Sager boy stuff. :)

Cute boys

Being their mama might make me slightly biased, but I happen to think I was blessed with the 3 cutest boys that have ever happened. Ever.

*sigh*

They just make me so happy. :)

These pictures aren't the best shots of Titus, but they do showcase his double chin quite nicely. That sort of makes up for the lack of smiles I guess. He wasn't really feeling up to pictures the other day, but David wanted to sit with him and say cheese soooo badly. I just had to.

Playtime

It makes my heart so happy to see these boys getting along, playing together and loving on each other. A friend of our gave the boys this farm set a while back. It has John Deere tractors, animals, barns, farmers and fence sections so they can build a mini ranch. David and Max love working together to set up the whole spread. It easily keeps them entertained for an hour.

How cute is it to have all three of my boys playing together??

Titus did as much sleeping as he did playing. :)
