David learned how to clap at breakfast this morning. Every bite at every meal since then has been a very big deal. We do a little celebration and clap and yell "Yay! Good job!". I am very proud and this is very cute but I wonder how long it'll take til I'm tired of clapping?
Kids are way harder to train than dogs, but their tricks are just as cute. :)

New coffee table
So here's the deal. The coffee table we had in the living room had very sharp pointed corners on it. This was making me really nervous because little David likes to stand there and play with toys during morning cartoons and stuff. He gets really tipsy sometimes and I'm so afraid that he will fall and really hurt himself on the edges.
Meanwhile, I've been trying to find a place for the activity table to go in our new apartment. It's not the kind of thing that is small enough to shove in a corner so I just didn't know where to put it. I got it last summer at a garage sale for $10 and have been storing it at my mom's house ever since. One day I got a big A Ha! moment and decided to replace the dangerous coffee table and put in the activity table since it's a bit more kid friendly. It also gives us lots more storage space for toys inside it and underneath. Problems solved!
Mom and Dad brought it to us about a week ago and we have been enjoying it very much. David loves driving his cars on it! If you would have told me a year ago that I would have a race track for a coffee table I would never have believed you. But now......

He amazes me
Some people think that babies are cute and cuddly, adorable and squishy, they smell good and make great noises. I used to be one of them. Now I am a mommy of a little boy. My guy is none of this.....well he used to be, but not anymore. :)
First of all those feet! He doesn't use them - how are they smelly? He just sits there and plays all day. Is playing really that hardcore? Does he really work up a sweat? If I don't give him a bath every other day those piggies will let me know. And believe you me - you don't want that! :)
And his noises! Who taught him how to grunt? I'm pretty sure he was born knowing how. This is incredible to me. His favorite game now is making sounds back and forth with us. We make a noise and he copies, then he makes one and we copy. Daddy is much better at this game now than I am because I am just unable to make the sounds and grunts that he can. He's 9 mos old. Seriously.
He is headed into yet another growth spurt now so he is eating me out of house and home. Breakfast is no later than 30 minutes after we wake up and nurse. Sometimes we have a morning snack, sometimes not. He will eat half of what I do for lunch now. Then he grabs 2 afternoon snacks and hits up some dinner in the evening. If he's feeling particularly hungry he will have another snack or a bowl of cereal before bed. And don't think about making him sleep all night and not eat anything! He is now back to waking up once to nurse and go back to sleep.
I am really starting to fear the teenage years.

In like a lion, out like a lamb
So they say that March's weather either comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb or vice versa. I for one am hoping that this is the lion end of things right now. :) Yes, it is bitter cold and yes the sunshine is deceiving, but I would hate to think that this is the best that we will be getting this month! If the worst we have to deal with is a few cold days, then bring it on! I am looking forward to these "lamb" days. I want spring!
