We had SUCH a great night tonight. We filled a cooler with beer and took it outside while we grilled some BBQ chicken. The boys frolicked in the yard in a way that was way more manly than frolicking sounds like it is and I chilled on a picnic blanket with my sweet Titus. It was a wonderfully breezy evening so I made the boys some paper airplanes to toss around. Like true brothers, they turned it into a competition instantly and I soon had paper airplanes whizzing down the hill and past my cozy little spot on the blanket. 

The boys were sort of loosing focus and wandering off (to put it nicely) so we ate dinner inside when Grill Master Dave pulled it off the grill. The boys and I stayed in and took a break from the sun while Dave went and bought us all ice cream sundaes. When he got home we took ourselves back outside for our treat and some after dinner city-kid-tree-climbing and to-the-hill-and-back races. David has surprisingly good running form for someone who has never seen the proper thing. He's always surprising me with his genius-ness like that.

David and I woke yesterday morning with a desperate need to get out of the house. We had the diaper bag packed, all 3 boys dressed and fed and the van loaded by 8:45am. We set out to go garage sale-ing , but almost an hour in, we'd only seen one sale and it was a flop. I guess everyone decided at the last minute not to have the sales they'd advertised online. Bummer. We had no desire to turn around and go back home so we hit the open road......

.....and it took us to Indiana. 

Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend to be exact. 

It was ridiculously hot (peaked out at 96 degrees I believe), but we didn't let that stop us. We toured the whole zoo and said "hi" to every animal there before we left.

then a girl walked up next to him so he
checked her out instead. 

Even the poor little monkeys were hot. I was sort of
jealous of this guy all splayed out on the cool cement like that. 

I swear to you, they were posing for me. 

We forgot all our quarters in the van so the boys couldn't
buy any food for the fish, but lots of people around
us fed them so we still got to watch. :)
